History

For the purpose of matching the need of our national economy construction and to cultivate trained personnel in the fields of technology and management, the Department was established in 1988 as the ížIndustrial Engineering and Management DepartmentíĘ of Ta-Hwa Institute of Technology. With twenty years ongoing development, there is a large increase in both student numbers and academic programs. Starting from one class of five-year junior college program at the beginning of the Department in 1988, the total numbers of academic classes are now reaching twenty-two classes. This covers four-year bacheloríŽs program, two-year bacheloríŽs program, and five-year junior college program with both full time and part-time program. The milestone of our growth at each stage is following:
  • 1988 íV The establishment of a five-year junior college regular program in Industrial Engineering and Management was approved. (one class)
  • 1990 íV The establishment of two-year junior college evening program was added and approved. (one class)
  • 1991 íV The establishment of two-year junior college regular program was added and approved. (one class)
  • 1992 íV The student in five year junior college program, two-year junior college regular program, and two-year junior college evening program first graduated.
  • 1993 íV One more class for two-year junior college evening program was added and approved.
  • 1996 íV One more class for five-year junior college program was added and approved.
  • 1997 íV Two more classes for two-year junior college evening program was added and approved.
  • 1998 íV The Department was updated to include a BacheloríŽs program.
  • 1998 íV One class of the two-year BacheloríŽs program and one class of two-year evening BacheloríŽs program were added and approved.
  • 1999 íV One class of the two-year on-job training BacheloríŽs program and one more class for two-year BacheloríŽs evening program were added and approved.
  • 2000 íV One more class of the two-year on-job training BacheloríŽs program was added and approved.
  • 2002 íV One class for the four-year BacheloríŽs program and one class for the four-year evening BacheloríŽs program were added and approved.
  • 2002 íV One more class for the two-year BacheloríŽs program were added and approved.
